The initial idea was to have the ceremony take place prior to the first game of Qatar on Monday. This could have led to the bizarre scenario of two games being scheduled prior to it. Qatar’s first game was moved forward by one day.
The ceremony of opening will take place at the stadium that holds 60,000 people Al Bayt Stadium, 40 km (25 miles) north of Doha.
